Perhaps this is the year that you've finally decided to get the gazebo that you've been fantasizing about for so long. If so, you're not alone. Millions of people each year, tired of simply wishing for them, finally make their dreams come true, by putting gazebos in their backyards.

This usually turns out to be a great choice. Not only do gazebos immediately improve the scenery of nearly any landscape, but they often increase property values as well. On top of that, they're quite practical, and exceedingly versatile, as they can serve myriad purposes.

So, now that you've made up your mind to give yourself the ultimate gift, you'll have to determine the best spot in which to put it. Like all other buildings, large and small, location is very important, because you'll want to place it where it will lend itself most easily to the use, or uses, that you have in mind for it.

For example, many people imagine their gazebos as tranquil, backyard retreats, where they can go to unwind, meditate, read, listen to the birds, or simply revel in the sights, scents, and colors of their gardens. If this is your vision, be sure to put your gazebo in a place that's far enough away from your house to keep you from being disturbed by any chaos, where you can get some solitude, as well as a desirable view of the scenery.

If you do a lot of entertaining, you may be thinking of your gazebo as a place to host parties, dinners, and various celebrations. For that, it's better to have it closer to the house, so that it will be easier to carry food, plates, and utensils, back and forth from the kitchen. Another great idea is to integrate a gazebo with a deck, which makes it almost like an outdoor dining room. It's convenient for taking things to and from the house, but provides a little more privacy.

These days, in a trend that's becoming increasingly popular, many people are installing hot tubs in their gazebos, and creating their own backyard spas. If this is your intention, the size, shape, style, and material that you select should be given careful consideration. For one thing, you may want to coordinate the shape of your tub with that of your gazebo. As for the size, make sure that you will have ample space surrounding the tub, for convenience and safety. It's also best to use cedar flooring in hot tub gazebos.

Many people are also equipping their gazebos with wiring, plumbing, electricity, and many other creature comforts, and using them as home offices, guest houses, cottages, hobby rooms, and much more.

I had a gazebo in my backyard when my children were young. I spent many peaceful, relaxing days sitting in it, enjoying the garden. Then my kids decided to make a playhouse in it. well, I let them use it for as long as they had an interest in it, then I got it back. They are nice for the whole family to enjoy. Thanks- Nice article.-- Ella
